Admission Procedure for Diploma Courses
West Bengal State Council of Technical Education offers Diploma Courses in Engineenng /
Technology / Architecture / Modern Office Practice & Management which are taught in
different Government, Sponsored, Aided & Self-Financing Polytechnics / Institutes /
Organisations of West Bengal or any other State affiliated to the West Bengal State Council
of Technical Education. Each full-time Diploma Course other than Marine Engineering &
Pharmacy is consist of three parts, viz. Part - I, Part - II and Part - III. Candidates who have
passed Madhyamik (10+) Examination of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or
any other equivalent examination from any school approved by the WBSCTE are eligible for
admission to the Part -I of any full-time Diploma Course. Selection for admission to the
full-time Diploma Courses in different polytechnics of West Bengal affiliated to the
WBSCTE other than the district of Darjeeling is made on the basis of merit in the following
mode: -
i) 60% of the allotted seats are filled up on the basis of the
merit list published by the
"Joint Entrance Examination for
Admission to State Polytechnics" conducted by
the "West
Bengal State Council of Technical Education" (Named as
`JEXPO');
ii) Remaining 40% of the allotted seats are filled up on the
basis of marks obtained in
Madhyamik or its equivalent or
any other examination approved by the WBSCTE,
which is
called as `POLY-40'. These seats are filled up on the basis
of district wise
quota.
Counseling of JEXPO applied students are done through Central Selection Committee while the same for POLY-40 applied students are done through Zone-wise Selection Committee. On the basis of recommendation of the Selection Committee, the students are admitted into the polytechnic.
Admission Procedure for Part Time Diploma Courses
A Common Entrance Test (CET) is conducted for admission of student to part-time evening diploma courses. On the basis of merit list, the admission to part-time evening diploma courses are made by the Selection Committee.
